Steering Committee
FLICT has a Sri Lankan Steering Committee which decides on the strategic direction of FLICT and approves strategically and financially important project proposals. It meets every 3 months and work is undertaken by the members on a voluntary and non-remunerated basis.
The Steering Committee comprises between 7-9 members. One representative is from the Counterpart Ministry of the project, the Ministry for Constitutional Affairs and National Integration. All other members are drawn from different sectors of civil society (e.g. universities, NGOs, private sector, media & arts). The composition reflects a balanced representation in terms of ethnicity, regional background, gender, and professional experience. New members can be suggested from the project unit, the committee or else and after discussion need final approval of the Donor Group. The Steering Committee decided that no member should serve for more than 3 years. This is not only to ensure that new ideas are brought in but also to broaden the ownership of FLICT.
